2011 NWTF Convention
Derby City had a very successful showing at this year’s convention. We got to see many faces from last year’s convention and we met a lot of new people who came by to check us out. The debut of our Turkey Track design was very popular. We would like to thank everyone who stopped by to chat, play a call, or purchase a call. It was great to meet all of you.
We also have a limited number of the American Chestnut Calls available. The only designs left are the Spur and Magnum. If you would like to purchase one, call Jeff at 502-386-3031.
NWTF Top Salesman Award goes too…
The top salesman goes to a little guy, about 10 or 12, working in the Derby City booth. His name was Cody, I believe. I walked by their booth and he asked me if I’d ever played one of their calls. Read more
Chris Redman joins Derby City Pro Staff
Derby City would like to welcome Chris Redman to our Pro Staff. Chris is a Louisville native who had a storied football career at Male High School and the University of Louisville. Chris was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens where he earned a Super Bowl Ring in his rookie season. He has played for the New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and is currently a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons.
Chris is good friends with Derby City Pro Staffer, Dave French. Chris is an avid outdoorsman. He loves to hunt and fish. According to Dave, Chris loves to chase those ol’ longbeards. Sounds like Chris is going to fit in great with Derby City. Welcome aboard Chris, we look forward to many good years of hunting and story telling.
Derby City’s Limited Run of American Chestnut Calls
Derby City will debut its limited run of American Chestnut calls at the NWTF Convention in Nashville, February 18-20. We have 15 calls in all three of our designs (Turkey Track, Magnum, and Spur). Each call is numbered. The calls were made from an American Chestnut that was planted by Derby City Pro Staffer, Dave Berry’s, father in the 1950’s. This tree survived the Chestnut blight, but was damaged from an ice storm and then killed by a lightning strike.
We will have pictures of the tree being processed, along with other information about how rare this tree really was. There are some very cool wormy pots in this run. They will go for $100, except for all the numbers 1 and 15. These will be even more special. Stop by the booth quick, we have already had several people inquire about these calls. These calls must be purchased in Nashville.
